The End of Oak Street arrives in cinemas next week

The End of Oak Street opens in cinemas one week from now, on Friday 14 August, closing out the countdown to David Robert Mitchell's next film after It Follows and Under the Silver Lake.

The film follows the Platt family after a mysterious cosmic event tears their suburban street loose from the rest of the world, forcing them to survive in unrecognizable surroundings, led by Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as the parents holding things together.

Mitchell has built a career on turning ordinary American suburbs uncanny, and the early details, including prehistoric creatures apparently showing up on a street that hasn't changed since the 1980s, suggest he's doing it again on a much bigger scale than his earlier films allowed.

Mitchell wrote and directed the film himself, but plot details beyond the setup remain scarce, keeping most of what happens once the street disappears a mystery until release.
